The Judeo-Christian faith, and the success of a Spirit-led Church that successfully casts down the gates of hades, depends to a HUGE degree on what happens with mothers. When our nations are being hit on all sides with trials related to the systems of this world, and issues related to finances become too frustrating to endure, what lies within the hearts of Spirit-led mothers will make all the difference. God Himself imparts something of His invincible nature so that mothers can rise up and defend the free world in a way that can’t happen without them. It involves surrounding and protecting the men they love: husbands, sons, brothers and more, as well as daughters.
The combination of freedom and the love of a mother are powerful influences which, when enabled to grow to full maturity in Christ, have the potential to replace despair with hope, fear with courage, and ultimately war with peace. In these turbulent times which try the souls of men, the love of mothers is able to rise up and make all the difference to the free world, for the benefit of both men and women.
The New Jerusalem desribed in the scriptures is distinctly female in nature. Galatians 4:26 refers to it as the New Jerusalem “who is above, who is free and who is our mother.” The freedom is critically important to an overcoming Church because it facilitates the love of God among us. As the old saying goes ‘Love is a choice.’ We show love for God and each other by the choices we make, and we need freedom to make them. Personal freedom is one of the highest Christian ideals, including for those who choose to reject Christianity or religion altogether, because God Himself created us to be free to make our own choices and have room to experience the results. At the same time we believe on this tie that best choice of all is to find freedom and love in a two-way relationship with the Living God through Jesus Christ (who is Immauel – God with us (Isaiah 7;14; Matthew 1:22-23).
In the Bible, freedom and women go hand-in-hand. Galatians 4:26 speaks of Sarah, wife of Abraham, as a symbol of the New Jerusalem. She was instrumental in putting slavery out of her house so God’s regenerating covenant of love could manifest fully in their son Isaac (Genesis 21). Initially she caused the problem when she was unable to conceive a son for Abraham on her own, so she suggested they use a slave-woman as a surrogate. Only later, when the slave-woman’s son began to taunt Isaac (the son that God gave to her from her own body), she realized the two could not live together. She told Abraham the slave-woman’s son had to go.
Even though it trouble Abraham greatly, the Lord said to him ‘Listen to whatever Sarah tells you because it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.’ In the bible, Sarah is used as an example of godly womanhood and motherhood. In 1 Peter 3:1-6, women are taught to focus on inner beauty that comes from a gentle and quiet spirit rather than on outward adornment Verse 6 says “you are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.” In other words the inner beauty also includes being strong of heart, fear-free, and committed to doing what’s right. God Himself will support a woman who stands FOR Judeo-Christian freedom in her own house, even if it means bringing correction to a man who would make room for slavery.
The role of female in the new covenant Church is not meant to be one of unconditional submission or spiritual slavery. When we insist that wives, mothers, and daughters should be in full submission to men in the body of Christ we open a spiritual door to something that is not of God. It’s not good for the men as well as the women. Rather, the whole Word of God needs to be taken into account and applied to individual circumstances as the Holy Spirit leads. Sometimes we witness women behaving like spiritual Jezebels by trying to take control that is not theirs to have. Other times, however, we witness women willing to put their lives on the line to intercede for the well-being of others, like Esther, or Deborah. Such women are supported by God Himself to accomplish His will as He reveals it to them, and nothing can stop them.
This is not about women’s liberation as defined by the world’s standards. It’s not about hating men. Rather, it involves women becoming healed of all the emotional and physical damage done to them in the past, then raised up as overcomers on behalf of men, children and other women. To try to hold Spirit-led women back from this is to create footholds for the enemy of our souls to undermine the true Church. In the fullness of the Kingdom, when the roles of gender are fully restored, there is no more power structure in which the carnal, sinful nature reigns. There is no more male nor female as we are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28).
When God created Eve He said “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18). The original Hebrew meaning for the word helper is ‘to surround, to protect, to aid’.* It’s the same root word used in scripture passages which refer to the Lord Himself as a means of help and protection. For example, Psalm 121 says “I lift my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.” And Psalm 28:7 says “The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”
Today, with the overwhelming challenges men face in this world, God is raising up Spirit-led women who have grown to the fullness of Christ to ‘surround, protect and aid’ men and children. In effect they are like spiritual Esthers who dare to go alone before the King and at the risk of death, in order to overcome evil in the lives of their loved ones. Such women are not in it for themselves. Instead they allow themselves to free-fall in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to gain the final victory over all evil for families, the true Church and ultimately nations. They are prepared by God to receive the fullness of the Kingdom of Heaven through which the kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of our Lord (Revelation 12:11).
At this time when God is pouring out His Holy Spirit on all flesh, the life of Christ now manifests from the New Jerusalem above, who is free and who is our mother. He uses whoever He sees fit to accomplish His purposes regardless of their gender. A key aspect of the way in which He uses mothers has to do with His love flushing out all fear, because fear has to do with slavery. At the same time the enemy of our souls uses fear in others to try to stop them. While the fear leads to religious slavery and legalism the Bible says “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).
One of the greatest sources of opposition to Spirit-led Christian and Jewish women will be the legalistic religious people who quote one or two scriptures out of context to keep them in ‘their place,’ at the cost of many other spiritual truths enabling women to become all God created them to be. This section of this website shares wisdom, revelation and overcoming testimony about how the final victory for the true Church depends largely on the work God is doing through strong, Spirit-led women.
